Robin William’s widow and some of his children have been fighting over various memorabilia in his estate. They have agreed to Mediate this issue at this time in the hopes of reaching a peaceful conclusion.
Robin Williams has a home in Napa and Tiburon, California.
William’s will state that Williams’ children are entitled to clothing, jewelry, personal photos taken prior to his marriage to his widow. However, his widow states that she is entitled to various person effects.
So far, both sides have agreed to meet informally to arrange for the pick up of some of William’s items for his children.
This is a great of example of how mediation can be used to settle family disputes whether it be in a divorce or estate distribution context.
The next time you or someone you know can’t agree on how a loved one’s estate should be distributed, consider a mediation.
